What is Import / Export? #
In short, Import / Export is a plugin tool that makes it easier to export or import your OJS or OMP data. such as Users, Articles, Press, etc.
The Import / Export plugin is very useful when you want to migrate your OJS journal data to another OJS or you want to secure your OJS data to avoid unwanted things or anything else.
When do I need or use this Import / Export tools? #
When you want to migrate your OJS journal data to other OJS or other purposes.
And we might not know that something like this might happen to your journal OJS.
How to use it on OJS #
Before that, we need to know how the import / export feature works first. The export feature will extract the selected data and download the data automatically. While the import feature is the opposite of export, where we upload the data that was previously exported.
And if you understand that, we will export & import the data in OJS.
Export the data #
First of all, go to your OJS Dashboard. Then select “Tools”.
After that, select the tools you want to use. As an example we will Export / save our OJS account Users data. Select the “Users XML Plugin”.
Then, select the user account you want to Export / save then select “Export Users”.
And, “User XML Plugin” will generate a .xml file.
Import the data #
Go to the plugin earlier (“Users XML Plugin”), then select the file that was exported earlier. If already, select “Import Users“.
And data import was successful!
The data that is lost will be imported again (The last data when you export it will be imported again)
However, if your user data is still there and you do the importing again. Plugin tools will skip it, in other words the user is still there.
